This is the original model that launched the Eco Fuego range, featuring its distinctive classic oak colour and authentic wood-texture finish for the appearance of a traditional outdoor fire combined with a completely different approach to fuel.
Instead of burning logs or charcoal, the El Fuego uses specially designed refills manufactured from 100% biodegradable vegetable wax. Each refill provides up to 8 hours of steady flame, delivering hours of warmth and atmosphere without having to continually add logs or tend the fire. Better still, the refill doesn't have to be used in one session – it can be extinguished and relit once the wax has cooled and solidified.
The wax-based system creates a clean, wood smoke-free and spark-free flame, eliminating much of the mess associated with a conventional wood-burning fire pit. There's no ash to shovel out afterwards, no pile of firewood to store and no constant log top-ups while you're trying to relax. Eco Fuego states that the El Fuego produces up to 90% lower CO₂ emissions than a traditional wood fire.
Using the El Fuego is refreshingly straightforward. Simply install the refill in the supplied drum insert and light the visible centre wick with a standard lighter. Eco Fuego advises that the flame develops over approximately 5–30 minutes, after which it provides a stable flame without needing constant feeding or adjustment.
When you've finished enjoying the fire, there's no need to wait for logs and embers to gradually burn themselves out. The supplied tabletop lid is used to extinguish the flame, with Eco Fuego advising users to slide the lid into position from the side and then allow the wax to cool fully before handling or moving the unit.
The El Fuego Original is particularly attractive for gardens, patios, terraces and outdoor entertaining areas, where its oak-effect finish allows it to become part of the furniture even when it's not lit. Once extinguished and cooled, the supplied tabletop lid gives the unit a smart, finished appearance.
