The Maypole MP2883 30A Self Switching Dual Charge Relay is a high-performance voltage sensing relay (VSR) designed to automatically charge your caravan's leisure battery and power the caravan refrigerator while the towing vehicle is running. Suitable for 12V towing systems, it intelligently monitors the vehicle's charging voltage, ensuring auxiliary power is only supplied when sufficient alternator output is available. This helps protect the vehicle's starter battery from unnecessary discharge once the engine is switched off.
Unlike traditional split charge relays, the MP2883 features a self-switching voltage sensor, eliminating the need for a separate ignition or signal wire. The relay automatically closes when the vehicle charging voltage rises to approximately 13.5V and disconnects when it falls below approximately 12.9V, providing fully automatic operation with no driver intervention required. It is also fully compatible with stop/start vehicles, as it connects directly to the battery rather than relying on an ignition feed.
Capable of supplying 30 amps continuously, the MP2883 provides sufficient power for charging leisure batteries while simultaneously operating caravan refrigeration systems.
